The Cavalier Music Talent Quest returns to Tamworth this January as the Cutting Edge Music Talent Search.
For 10 years from 1997 to 2006, the Cavalier talent quest was one of the important events on the Tamworth Country Music Festival calendar and regularly featured many brilliant ‘up ‘n’ coming’ artists, particularly young ones just starting out on a serious performing career.
With a transparent, consistent format, judging criteria and continuity of judges, it gained the confidence and respect of entrants and became a significant goal for many young stars-to-be, “a valuable benchmark for their progress.”
Many prize-winners have already gone on to considerable success, among them Kirsty Lee Akers, Simon Bruce, Travis Collins, The McClymonts, Aleyce Simmonds and many others now well-established in their professional careers in country music.
It is with pleasure that Cutting Edge Music announces that the talent quest will return under its banner in 2008 at a new ‘home’ – the renowned Tudor Hotel right in the heart of the action! - and that Tooheys has again generously agreed to be a co-sponsor.
The traditional emphasis on youthful talent and promise will continue. Innovations will include an enhanced sub-junior category, and a specific section for instrumentalists within each main age category.
Major prizes will include Blade guitars, Cavalier Music recording studio demo packages and cash prizes.
The contest will run on three consecutive days from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 January, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
